The Zentrum für Sonnenenergie- und Wasserstoff-Forschung Baden-Württemberg (Centre for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg, ZSW) is a non-profit foundation of the Federal State Baden-Württemberg and various institutions and companies. For the research department Accumulators Materials Research, ECM, at the Ulm site, we are seeking as soon as possible a

PhD Student (m/f/d)  in time factor 75%

Your areas of activity:

  • Research on formulations and coating processes as well as electrode designs for Lithium-ion battery electrodes
  • Scientifically sound description of the processes
  • Fabrication and characterization of electrodes and cells for demonstration
  • Independent profound analysis of the data and consequent deduction of correlations between process, structure and properties of the electrodes and cells
  • Transfer of a process from a laboratory scale up to a technical scale
  • Creation of reports and publications as well as presentations of results in scientific talks

Your profile:

  • Above-average university degree in chemistry, discipline process engineering, paints and coatings, electrochemistry, physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry or comparable qualification
  • Joy in development of profound working hypotheses and their scientific verification
  • Ideally good knowledge in the fields of mixing and coating as well as Lithium-ion cellls
  • Good knowledge of MS Office and scientific evaluation software, e.g. Origin
  • Very good German and English language skills and strong expressiveness are an advantage
  • Ability to quickly acquire expertise in new topics, structured and goal-oriented approach to work
  • High level of commitment, problem-solving ability and ability to work under pressure
