The Centre for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg (ZSW) is one of the leading institutes for applied research into the major issues relating to the energy transition which include photovoltaics, wind energy, battery technology, fuel cells, electrolysis, e-fuels, circular economy, policy advice, and the use of AI for process and system optimisation. We work in tandem with industry to pave the way to market for new technologies. The challenge falls to more than 300 employees and around 100 research and student assistants at the ZSW bases in Stuttgart and Ulm. The ZSW also operates a test site for wind energy and another test site for PV systems. The ZSW is a member of the Innovationsallianz Baden-Württemberg (innBW), an alliance of 10 applied research institutions.

For the research department ECM at the Ulm site, we are seeking as soon as possible a

Research assistant (wissenschaftliche Hilfskraft) (m/f/d) for support in the field of SEM

Your areas of activity:

  • after a substantial training independent operation of scanning electron microscope
  • characterization of battery materials regarding morphology, chemical composition
  • additional tasks in lab if needed

Your profile:

  • Student with BSc. degree in the field of chemistry, electrochemistry, chemical engineering or physics (university or college) or comparable
  • accurate, structured, reliable and independent working approach
  • interested in analytical methods for characterisation of battery materials
  • preferable experienced in operation of scanning electron microscope or electron microprobe
  • previous knowledge in renewable energies, battery materials and electrochemistry is an advantage
  • ability to quickly acquire expertise in new topics
  • good knowledge in MS_Office, image-analysis, fluent in German (C1) and English
